Frequently Asked Questions
How long does a photography session go for?
The length of a photography session depends on the type of shoot.
Family photoshoots usually run for 1 hour, with extended families sometimes needing a little longer depending on numbers. That said, we often capture the most important images within the first 30 minutes, when everyone is fresh and relaxed. Anything after that is a more freestyle, playful bonus.
Personal branding photoshoots start at two hours, which I find is the sweet spot. This allows time to settle in, build comfort, explore different looks or locations, and capture a strong variety of images. It’s the best way to ensure you walk away with a diverse image library you can confidently use across your website, social media, and marketing.
I also offer mini branding shoots during promotional periods for those with tighter budgets.
Commercial photography is booked hourly, with a minimum of two hours, and can extend up to six hours depending on the scope of the project.
What to wear? Do you offer styling services?
Yes, I offer guidance, and optional professional styling if you’d like more support. For family photoshoots, I help guide you towards outfits that harmonise rather than match. We’re not aiming for the classic “toothpaste commercial” look, where everyone is in identical white shirts and jeans. Instead, I’ll suggest a colour palette that suits your chosen location, and each person can draw from that palette in their own way. This keeps the images natural, cohesive, and timeless. For personal branding shoots, styling guidance is included in your planning session. I’ll help you understand what works best photographically and for your brand, without overwhelming you with rules. Often, people already own the perfect pieces and just need a fresh perspective, sometimes something tucked away for a “special occasion.” If you’d like deeper support, I also work with a professional stylist who can be booked as an additional service, which can be especially helpful for branding shoots.
What if I hate getting my picture taken...
You’re not alone, and honestly, this is one of the most common things I hear. Most people don’t dislike themselves, they dislike the photos they’ve seen of themselves. Often that comes down to poor lighting, awkward angles, or wide-angle lenses used too close, which can completely distort facial features. My job is twofold. First, my technical skills ensure you’re photographed in a way that’s flattering, natural, and true to you. Second, and just as important, is my ability to help you feel comfortable. When people relax, they soften, they become themselves, and that’s when the magic happens. After more than 20 years as a professional photographer, I can confidently say I’ve never had someone leave a shoot still feeling uncomfortable in front of the camera. Most people are surprised by how much they actually enjoy the experience, and by how much they like what they see. I don’t rush or force an image. I slow things down and create space for you to relax into yourself, allowing something real to emerge. Often, seeing your photos is simply a moment of recognition.
What are your rates?
I offer two ways to work together, depending on what suits your needs and budget. All-inclusive packages are pre-purchased and include planning, the photoshoot, and a curated collection of images at a discounted rate. This is the most popular option, as it allows me to shoot with intention, knowing exactly what you need from the session. I also offer an hourly rate plus per-image pricing: Photography starts at $300 per hour. Images are purchased separately, starting at $85 per image, with the price reducing when multiple images are selected. Most clients find all-inclusive packages offer better value and a more cohesive experience, rather than piecing things together after the shoot.
Do you offer event photography?
Yes. I photograph events in a natural, documentary style that captures the energy, connection, and key moments as they unfold. Event photography starts at $1,400 for 1.5 hours, with clients receiving approximately 100 edited images per hour. This provides a strong collection of images suitable for promotion, marketing, and ongoing use. Event coverage is ideal for business events, brand launches, and community gatherings. Coverage can be tailored to suit your event’s timing and requirements.
